John D. Spellman Safety Award
ESC Member Company Award Program
Evergreen Safety Council believes in recognizing and rewarding its members actively pursuing and reinforcing the establishment of a positive safety culture in their workplaces. The John D. Spellman Safety Award was created in 2006 to inspire interest in promoting safety in the workplace and accident prevention.
The annual award is presented to an organization which has demonstrated a focus on safety awareness through activities that are safety related and that management has chosen to support. John D. Spellman is the former Washington State Governor (1981-1985) and ESC's current Board Chairman. Each winner is honored at ESC's Annual Membership meeting in January.
Kelly George of Nucor Steel, the recepient of the 2007 John D. Spellman Safety Award, says, "For Nucor, winning the award was very positive recognition for the hard work of each of our employees. Nucor proudly displays the award and would enourage others to pursue a world class safety program and recognition of their efforts through the Spellman Safety Award."
We invite you to promote your achievements and celebrate the safety goals achieved in your organization. To qualify, we ask for details of your safety efforts undertaken for the year. Examples of employee involvement and management commitment that helped foster a positive safety culture within your organization should be included in the application.
The award is presented at our Annual Membership Meeting. Nominations are accepted beginning December 1 each year. We encourage you to apply. ESC thanks you for helping to send your employees home safely and in good condition after each day's work.
