Course Description
HST 205 - Confined Space/Respirators
The confined space session covers the definition of a confined space and permits-required confined space, proper entry procedures and entry permit, necessary equipment for making a safe entry, and ventilation requirements for confined space entry.
- Duties of the authorized entrant, attendant and supervisor are discussed
- Non-entry rescue by mechanical retrieval device is covered (i.e., tripod, davit)
- The confined space session also provides an in-depth discussion of possible hazardous conditions during entries such as atmospheric, vibration, and slip are covered.
- The respirator session will present an overview of the respiratory protection code and the requirements of a written respiratory protection program.
- Respiratory hazards and threshold levels (i.e., permissible exposure limit, immediately dangerous to life & health) will be presented to the participants.
- Types of respirators and how they are used and fit tested will be discussed.
- Displays, demonstrations, and participant involvement are an important part of this session.
