Course Description
SPT 104A/B Elements of Security Programs/Violence as a Workplace Issue
Part A:
- "Elements of a Security Program" explores the need for and the elements of an effective security program.
- Participants will learn how the relationships between the safety office, security office, management and employees need to work in order to develop an effective security program.
- This course will cover employee protection, protection of facilities, information security, asset loss prevention, background investigations, security contract services and disaster management.
- Participants will identify benefits and trends in workplace security, define a workplace security risk assessment, and learn how it is used.
Part B:
- "Violence as a Workplace Issue" is designed to raise awareness of the possibility of an act of violence occurring at a place of business.
- Participants will learn to recognize early warning signs of potential violence and how to handle escalating violent behavior.
- The course will show participants how to develop an effective workplace violence plan, identify risks and implement new prevention strategies.
